Construction Training Centre Weston College, Construction Courses

Why you should complete your ADR licence

If you are new to the driving industry, or currently hold the HGV Class 2 Cat C licence, we can help you progress your career through our ADR training courses. Our training courses are available to people that have two or more years’ worth of driving experience, and hold a valid CPC card.

ADR stands for Accord Dangerous Routier, and is a requirement by law, under the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009 (as amended) and The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 (as amended) acts.

Once you have completed this course, (depending on the classes and the way in which you carry the goods i.e. in packages or tankers) you will be able to drive vehicles of all sizes, and transport dangerous good, and liquids such as:

• Milk
• Petrol
• Toxic materials
• Gases
• Fertilisers

This will allow you to realise your earning potential, with the average annual salary for a tanker driver being in the region of £45,000! This is also a job which is in demand, with many job opportunities across the country.

There are four main elements to the course:

Core
The Core module is mandatory to obtain an ADR certificate. The module covers topics such as Legislation, Security, Fire Safety and First Aid.

Packages
This section covers the different types of hazardous good in packages.

Tanks
The Tanks element explains the regulations of tanked vehicles, loading and unloading, as well as driving tanked vehicles.

Classes
There are nine classes in total, and as each class has unique dangers and features they are separated into categories.

To obtain an ADR certificate you must complete and pass the Core, Packages and/or tanks and at least one Classification exam.

Courses are held monthly running Monday through Friday depending on the amount of classes you require.

Our instructor has over 15 years of experience in undertaking training of the ADR course and 40+ years of experience within the industry itself.

Our pass rates range between 98% and 100%.
